Welcome to my Blog!

Blogs are "in," almost everyone has one, and that's probably the number one reason I've been pussy-footing around and NOT doing one myself. However, there are so many cool things to talk about--some very important and others just a lot of fun--I decided, what the heck!

I want to say from the get-go that I'm not here to judge anyone, hurt anyone's feelings, market a particular company or product, or even teach you anything, although that might happen by accident now and again... My goal is simply to entertain, stimulate, intrigue or occasionally give information that I've gleaned over the course of the 42 years I've been walking the earth! I hope we laugh together, cry together, and enjoy the opportunity afforded us to hang out online.

All of that said, I do have opinions and interests that may or may not be popular, but since I live in the good old USA, that's pretty much my right. I don't do politics or religion. I believe in our country and democracy in theory, but I while I lean towards the liberal, most Democrats are imperfect human beings who do stupid things, and when that happens, I topple over to the right... I believe in the Ten Commandments, but I also believe that what's inside of ME is far more important than getting up too early on a Sunday morning and traveling to a man-made building to read a man-made book that may or may not have anything to do with a deity no one (that I know of) has ever really seen. I won't tell you what to believe or who to worship or how to vote, but I will definitely point out idiotic things done by politicians, men (and women) of the cloth, and everybody else!

I love rock and roll, scrapbooking, cooking, baking, good friends, travel, good books, my family, my friends, and (if you haven't figure it out on your own)--WRITING. I'm modern in an old-fashioned kind of way, I curse and drink and occasionally smoke a cigarette, although I try really hard not to do any of those things... I'm not perfect, I don't have all the answers (or any of them, depending on the day), and I am not necessarily smarter than you, although I will tell you if you're wrong, and apologize if I am.

I am painfully honest; I've lost friends over it, hurt people's feelings (though that has never been intentional unless you purposely hurt me first), and probably said some things that were out of line. I know this, and work hard to count to ten before I shoot off my mouth, but what you see is what you get, so love me or leave me alone. I'm one of the best friends you'll ever have, loyal to a fault, and genuinely interested in almost everything the world has to offer. I'm lucky enough to have a fantastic husband, beautiful children, the best parents ever, and incredible friends and extended family members.

And finally, I'm dedicating this blog to my friend, Ty Westerhoff, who was taken from the world far too soon. We lost touch a long time ago, and a recent internet search uncovered the fact that he'd died in May of 2005--and I never got to say good-bye. I moved, he moved, I got married, he got married, I started a family and moved several more times, and time just slipped away... so this blog is dedicated to him and all the other people in my life that have slipped away, in the hopes that we all stay a little closer together!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a tribute to Ty and his music... but for now, be on the lookout for the beginning of an ongoing fictitious story that I will write with no outline, no plan, and no ending; when/if it starts to get boring, I'll end it. Otherwise, it'll be your online soap opera, with fun characters, action, adventure, sex, and whatever else I decide to throw in! It might go a month, it might go for ten years--it's just for fun. I'll also be reviewing a band I'm going to see on July 3rd, posting some pictures the family, and maybe tomorrow I'll talk about the cooking class I'm going to assist in tonight!
